Two new members have joined litterbug, as the band plays shows to promote its new release Zero Hour. David Newberry, who also has his own band David Newberry and the Charismatic Megafauna and plays with his sister Sioux Newberry, plays bass, guitar, and drums in the band. Max Boyle, who plays with the Clementines and Sneetch, adds violin, drums, and guitar. Meanwhile, Zero Hour continues to receive airplay at many college stations across North America and the response to the album has been largely positive.

As well, litterbug has just made new t-shirts. This limited edition shirt is hand silk-screened and features a design that ties into the Zero Hour album. Cost is a very reasonable $15. If you would like to see the shirt or order one, please click here.

Litterbug to release Zero Hour on April 28, 2009

Zero Hour is litterbug’s third full-length release and the first since 2004’s kaiser and hollis releases. A dark album full of songs about life, death and birds, Zero Hour further refines litterbug’s sound. Marc and Janie are joined by the additions of Spencer Rose who brings to the band accomplished drumming, and bass and guitar playing, and Amelia Mori who adds singing, songwriting and the swirling sound of her classically trained violin playing. Featured guests include Larissa Loyva (Kellarissa, former p:ano, Choir Practice) providing punchy trumpets and beautiful harmonies, Brady Cranfield (Womankind, former Book of Lists) plucking piano strings, and Josh Rose (Robe and Allied) on guitar. Recorded in a Baptist Church in the Summer/Fall of 2008, Zero Hour has a full rich sound that highlights the band’s finest album to date.

litterbug will be releasing its new album "zero hour" in early 2009. the album was recorded in the summer of 2008 at fairview baptist church in vancouver with the lineup of marc simao, janie cranfield, spencer rose and amelia mori. guests include larissa loyva (kellarissa, ex- p:ano, choir practice), josh rose (sick buildings, the holy sea, robe and allied) and brady cranfield (womankind, cowbell, ex-book of lists). with amelia off to australia, the band is looking to add some members for upcoming shows in early 2009. following that, litterbug will record more tracks for a follow-up album to zero hour, which should result in a world tour that will make the likes of guns 'n' roses blush. prospective tour stops include decatur, georgia, where marc still has a coupon for a free game of mini-golf; spencer, iowa, for obvious reasons; and literburg, denmark, a town that has free pastries after midnight.

Litterbug will be recording songs for their next album from May through July. The album is being recorded in a Baptist Church and will be the first new album from litterbug in four years.

We will be playing Thursday February 28, 2008 with Los Malos at Pat's Pub (403 East Hastings in Vancouver). $5 cover charge, 19+. We're playing material that will be on the next litterbug album as well as a couple of older songs. litterbug on at 9:15, Los Malos on at 10:15.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Cafe Deux Soleils show. The show has been our favourite one in the past few months.

A big thanks to everyone who came out to a show, wrote in and/or bought an album, shirt or fridge magnet in 2007. Litterbug will be playing with Los Malos at Cafe Deux Soleils (2096 Commercial Drive in Vancouver) on Saturday January 19, 2008. The cover charge is $5 and the venue is all ages. Show starts around 9 p.m.

After that show Litterbug will focus on recording new material for a 2008 release.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the show at Pat's Pub with Los Malos. It was a fun show to play and Los Malos were really great to see.

Friday November 23, 2007 - Language Arts, litterbug, the Hawaiian Bibles, and the Bends at the Royal Unicorn Cabaret (147 East Pender in Vancouver). $5 cover charge, 19+. Doors at 8 p.m (The cover has dropped to $5 so bring out your friends and come see 4 Vancouver bands and support the Royal Unicorn as well - we need all the live venues we can get in Vancouver).

The CJSR compilation CD "Up From The Basement" has been released. Litterbug's song "Rachel Quinney" is on the album so feel free to call up your local campus/community radio station and request it. It's the first track issued with the current litterbug lineup of Marc, Janie, Spencer and Amelia. To get a copy of the CD, call CJSR at 780.492.5244 or email admin@cjsr.com.

Litterbug will focus on recording over the next several months with the aim to release an album of new material in 2008.

litterbug will be playing at the main in vancouver on Aug. 25. (located at 4210 main st., which is main and 26th) we're playing two sets that night so it will be a good chance to hear all the new tracks. it's also the first live shows with new members spencer and amelia. more shows to follow in september and october.

litterbug has also done some recording in july, laying down a version of 'rachel quinney'. we're expecting to record later this fall and into the early part of winter to complete tracks for a new album.

the four of us are making progress, working on new material and are itching to play some shows. we are also looking for a good studio space in vancouver where we could record our next album. if you live in vancouver and are looking to rent out a basement or room for us to practice or record in, then please contact us. we are clean, respectful and not very noisy at all. no need to worry about all night recording sessions as we have no interest in living a rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

what else is new? the whole website has undergone an update that will help facilitate easier updates in the future. we have about 15 songs to record for the next album and will likely write a few more and then whittle down the strongest for the actual album. look for us to be playing shows in vancouver and surroundings during the summer with plans to begin recording by early fall.

actually, lots. the band expanded westward with janie and i both moving out to vancouver while justin and aileen (now married!) moved eastward to saskatoon. also, lonnie quit. where does this leave the band? well, we are focusing on recording the next album in vancouver with janie, myself, and new members spencer rose (drummer on i wanna dance from kaiser) and amelia mori. maybe justin and aileen will fly in for some sessions (just like the big rock stars that they are!).

the past 6 months have been less of a musical time for litterbug, as we are still getting used to new surroundings, new homes and the struggles to find decent jobs and a good studio. now that most of that is accomplished, litterbug is excited to get back to playing music, incorporating new members and recording an album of new material. some of those songs were previewed in shows in edmonton and vancouver last year, but most will be new to the listener.
